In conjunction with the project, they have released a new album called By Every Means Necessary, a dramatic score of drumbreaks and strings, layers of melody and calls for revolution of the spirit. This is a Prince Paul project minus the humor we’ve come to expect, replaced with a driving sense of musicality and seriousness. We chat a bit about their journey and what it was like to be a part of the documentary and finally have these songs out in full-length form. As a tribute to Malcolm too, as they wanted to put this out on what would’ve been his 95th birthday.

Legendary producer Prince Paul, and his longterm collaborator Don Newkirk, who had a longtime presence with Bernie Worrell and Def Jam, as heard on De La Soul’s 3 Feet High and Rising, have joined forces again to score the docuseries Who Killed Malcolm X.
