Not sure how effective Toney's style of boxing would be in MMA though. His slip & roll defensive techniques work with big boxing gloves on, but I'm sure that MMA gloves will slip and roll right into his jaw.

Doubt UFC gives him a fight based on his name. A prime young contender maybe. Not a washed up fighter, even though he's a legend.

That said. I'd love to see a James Toney vs Kimbo fight.

Toney would send Kimbo out on one of these.

Well, I cant take anything away from an established boxer. They may out punch an MMA fighter, but just like many that are not well rounded, they will get taken down and pummelled if they dont turtle up. If someone is good with leg kicks, I do see a fight being dragged out.

In all honestly, these guys need to get in the cage and go thru with the fighting and not talk about it.

UFC makes james toney a 5-fight offer for "chump change"

According to future Hall of Famer James "Lights Out" Toney, UFC President Dana White offered him a 5-fight contract with the stipulation that he no longer compete in boxing. "Dana White is a straight up ho! He makes me a 5-fight offer for chump change and said I can't box anymore if I accept it. He must have lost his damn mind," stated Toney.

Of course, the always talkative Toney didn't stop there. "I'm the best of both worlds. Anyone in either sport that wants to come see me, we can do this," he added. Frustratred with his inability to find an opponent in boxing, Toney seems eager to get into a fight with anyone. Unfortunately for him, calling Dana White a "ho" likely won't make that offer change any time soon. Check back later for much more from Toney, who had a lot more to say about Dana White and MMA fighters.
