ftp lets you connect directly to somebodys computer and download shit directly from them. you know how kazaa and all that other shit works, i thinks programs are based on the same shit. so when you log onto an FTP SITE, you are really logging onto somebody's computer. then u can view all the files the ftp owner allows. depending on what they allow, you can read, download, write, delete and all that other shit to the files.
