The books sold millions of copies and were best sellers TWENTY YEARS AGO lol. Theyre popular for a reason. I like what happens, how it flows, how the characters develop. So when you take what I like and change the formula and all these things above I'm going to say something, especially when you take best seller writing and substitute shit tier writing instead

Is it any coincidence all the best scenes are basically direct translations from the book, and the shit tier scenes are all made up? Ramsay and whatever they changed asha greyjoys name to somehow abandoning her ironborn ways, trudging across land to try and rescue theon then that whole awful fight scene then asha warping back to the boat when the dogs got loose lol. Plus the brienne fight, hotpie magically being In the very first inn she visits and pointing her exactly to where arya is, a bunch of other awful shit

My point is when they stick to the books everybody's happy and its a great show, and every time they deviate its been fuckin awful and looks so bad
....if you read the books.

And thats exactly the point im making. I dont want to see people bitching about what they did or didn't do becuase I DON'T KNOW, so I DON'T CARE. I have nothing to base the scenes against, so its all new to me.

Props: :ab: and :ab:

you can't grasp that what made the show good in the first place was they were only translating the books to tv?

I like how the magic fairy mario bros fireballs and awful cgi skeletons was so shit tier and bad no one even mentioned it lmao
I actually liked the skeletons because I was a fan of Ray Harryhausen as a kid.

The director actually said the scene was a bit of a tribute to Ray since he had just died prior to filming.

I didn't like the fireball shit and that's getting close to lord of the rings type gayness that I hope the show/books don't get into much!

No, becuase again, i have not read the books. The show is good becuase its good, regardless of what was written prior or based on. Why do you think its so popular? Its now the highest watched HBO series EVER. Many of the people watching it, have not only never read the books, but didn't even know there WERE books to base it off of when they started watching in the first place.

One other thing to consider regarding the differences from the books and the show, is that there is a strong possibility that certain things in the show are purposely done differently because very soon here the show will catch up to the books (possibly by the end of next season or the season after). So it's likely they realize this and at some point the show (if not already) will deviate from the books and go it's own direction, making it's own conclusions separate from George RR Martin, since he's taking forever to finish the books. If that's the case worrying about the differences becomes pointless.

From my understanding, as it is now, certain characters are already caught up with the books. I think it's only logical that the show is going to go it's own way, with the help of George RR Martin of course.

I dunno to be honest martin got stale in book 4 and 5 and I'm starting to think he can't finish what he started. maybe it got too big for him or maybe he grew past it. anybody read the dark tower series by stephen king? lol... sense something like that going on. calling it now screencap this: shit will all end with a spider (maybe the spider?) lol

I think it got too big for him too. I believe originally he planned just a trilogy, but wrote so much shit it became obvious it had to be more. Also I hear him say funny things like how the show is influencing his writing. Like he said he's going to give Osha a bigger role:

Natalia Tena plays wilding Osha, and A Song of Ice and Fire author George R. R. Martin was so impressed with her performance that he's making changes in his next book, The Winds of Winter. "She's become such an interesting character," he explains, "that when she reappears in the books I'd like to give her a more interesting role to play".

So it seems he doesn't really know what he's doing lol

*SPOILERS FOR STEPHEN KING DARK TOWER SERIES
basically it ends with the gunslinger shooting harry potter snitches whatever those gay balls they use in that harry potter air hockey broom shit, thrown at him by santa clause who morphs into a giant spider. then it all restarts to page one of the first book and it turns out the gunslinger has lived the books out throughout multiple universes and lives out basically hundreds of times already, and he's cursed to do it again until he gets it perfect or some shit like that. it was basically a giant "look I've moved past these faggot books but you've all been bugging me about it for like 30 years so fuck you ill diarrhea onto pages pay me then fuck off" lol. At one point the gunslinger was even in our universe and has to stop stephen king himself from that car accident he was in in real life, where he was hit and run by a van while walking down a road. He saves king from dieing but still gets injured just like in real life, and roland is driving him around in a van and convinces him he's from the books he started writing years ago, and he has to write the ending, lmfao

I dunno, they are still great books, and have amazing characters in them. I didnt look into any symbolism or analyze the text I just took it at face value. people are divided on the ending but everyone agreed it was still a great series overall, if you look past some of the randomness at the end

Arya? Tyrion?

Arya is headed off to Braavos to meet up with the faceless assassin's, I cant wait to see what she's going to get into.
I thought Arya convinced them to go north after all when she showed the coin?

Why did she wanted to go north in the first place? I must have missed or forgotten something.
