First, try this:
1. From the main home screen, tap menu
2. Tap Settings, then Privacy
3. Tap Factory data reset
4. Tap Reset phone
5. Enter your password, then tap Yes to confirm
If that doesn't work, or if your phone is frozen:
1. Turn the power off. If your Samsung Galaxy S is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
2. Hold the Volume Down button
3. Press and release the Power button
4. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
5. Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
6. Press and release the Power button
7. Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO

if you have 2.2 and flash go to this website http://www.crackle.com/ you can stream a grip of movies to your phone over wifi or 3g. That is an app for non flash users but you have to pay the monthly cost. I was watching La Bamba the other day at work and it was pretty good quality. I think sony owns the site.
The problem with the first one is that i cant get into the menu, it gets to the starting animation then is unresponsive. And as for the second one, quite a few of the galaxies are affected by a defect that doesnt allow them to be put into any sort of recovery mode on booting, and unfortunately i have one of these.
I had to go back to the iphone 3g at the moment and the galaxy is such a better phone.
