January 25, 2010 – The Chicago Bulls announced today that the team has acquired guard Devin Brown from the New Orleans Hornets for center Aaron Gray.

“We’re excited to add Devin Brown to our team,” said Chicago Bulls General Manager Gar Forman. “His toughness, defensive versatility, and shooting will be excellent additions to our perimeter rotation.”

Brown has appeared in 39 games (37 starts) for the Hornets this year, and averaged 9.7 ppg, 2.8 rpg and 1.5 apg in 24.8 mpg. In his eighth season out of the University of Texas-San Antonio, the 31-year old Brown has also played for New Orleans (twice), Denver, San Antonio (a member of the 2005 NBA Championship team), Utah and Cleveland. He holds career averages of 7.3 ppg, 2.8 boards per, 1.5 dimes and 19.7 minutes.

Aaron Gray was drafted by Chicago in the second round (49th overall) of NBA Draft 2007. In two-plus seasons with the Bulls, he played in 125 games (19 starts) and averaged 3.8 ppg and 3.2 rpg in 11.0 mpg. He has appeared in only 8 games this season and recorded 2.3 points per game and just 2 boards per in only 6.3 minutes per game. So, this is not a bad trade at all, considering that Brown will give us a lot more production off the bench even though he’s an older guy. He brings experience, defense, and scoring.

I read another ''rumor'' on ESPN last night about the Bulls trying to ship Hinrich to LA for Vujacic and Adam Morrison (possibly with Jordan Farmar, too).

Glad to see Rose healthy.
THATS A OLD RUMOR BUT ID TAKE THAT DEAL IN A HEARTBEAT. HINRICH IS OVERPAID FOR A BACKUP AND MORRISION IS EXPIRING WHICH WE NEED. FARMAR IS A GOOD PACKUP AT A GOOD PRICE AND HE MIGHT EVEN BE A EXPIRING TOO
