First one was a disappointment, couldnt even sit through the 2nd. Something about the CGI made it look too unrealistic or something.

I was a fan of the original trilogy too

the 2nd one was awesome in Imax 3d. First one i couldnt really watch till after i watched the 2nd one. I kept trying to watch it before that and it bored the fuck outta me. They could have at least showed the dragon destroy the town at the end of the 2nd, my only beef with it.

Did you watch them in the high-frame rate versions that gave them the "soap opera" effect? Thats probably why. they filmed it in 48fps and 24fps....i dont fuck with the former. Watched both in standard frame rate and enjoyed both.

Do I have to re-watch the original LOTR films to get caught up on this?

Or just the previous installments of the Hobbit?
