The Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) was created by U.S. President Ronald Reagan on March 23, 1983[1] to use ground and space-based systems to protect the United States from attack by strategic nuclear ballistic missiles. The initiative focused on strategic defense rather than the prior strategic offense doctrine of mutual assured destruction (MAD). The Strategic Defense Initiative Organization (SDIO) was set up in 1984 within the United States Department of Defense to oversee the Strategic Defense Initiative.
The ambitious initiative was "widely criticized as being unrealistic, even unscientific" as well as for threatening to destabilize MAD and re-ignite "an offensive arms race".[2] It was soon derided as Star Wars, after the popular 1977 film by George Lucas. Well since he gave no insight into why Reagan wasn't a great man, or Bush wasn't very bright....yeah I could use more info.
Otherwise his comment just sounds like a bunch of uninformed, peer group persuaded bullshit.
Especially considering that among past presidents Reagan often scores in the TOP 10 on public opinion polls.

And anyone with half a brain and an ounce of common sense would realize that anyone who goes to Harvard, has an MBA, is Governor, and makes it to the white house is probably much smarter than they are.
Not to mention, many credible people debunked the myth of George Bush being an idiot long ago.

I think people associate Reagan with the acceleration of capitalism and the corporate movement in the US, and in hindsight, depending on your position on how well the US is doing financially, that is up for debate.
Goes to show you who the American people are as a whole, huh?
While I agree with everything you are saying, getting into the White House is not synonymous with general, overall intelligence. However, money and a good campaign is. Hell, for all we know, his daddy bought his way into Harvard as well. No institution is above getting a nice chunk of funding from an alum...just ask Oregon.
No matter what his scores were, we all saw him make up words on TV and look like a bumbling idiot. I mean, it wasn't that big of a secret: he was openly ridiculed constantly in the media.
Either way, its all opinion. Bush Jr. may have scored well on aptitude tests, but he was a failure twice in business and to many, in the white house.
